Ex: The English test today is a piece of cake
2. Under the weather: to feel slightly ill – thấy không thoải mái/ không khỏe trong người.
Ex: I’m feeling a bit under the weather today. Can I take a rest day?
3. Hit the books: to study very hard – học hành chăm chỉ
Ex: I have to hit the books now because the final exam is coming tomorrow.
4. When pigs fly: something that will never happen ~ Mặt trời mọc đằng Tây.
Ex: You will give up surfing the Facebook? When pigs fly!
5. Go the extra mile: to make more effort than is expected of you – cố gắng, nỗ lực vượt mong đợi
Ex: She always goes the extra mile to pass the exams.
6. Out of sight out of mind: to emphasize that when something or someone cannot be seen, it is easy to forget it, him, or her – xa mặt cách lòng.

13. Easier said than done:easy to suggest, but much more difficult to make happen – nói thì dễ, làm mới khó! / nói dễ hơn làm

14. You rock!/ You rule! ~ You’reawesome / You’re very good / You’re cool! : Bạn thật tuyệt!
15. Freak (sb) out:làm cho ai đó hoảng sợ/ kích động/ buồn.
Ex: This movie freaks me out whenever I watch it!
16. Slip of the tongue:something that you say by accident when you intended to
say something else – lỡ lời / nhỡ miệng / buột miệng.
Ex: He quickly corrected his unfortunate slip of the tongue.
17. A hot potato:a problem, situation, etc. that is difficult to deal with
and causes a lot of disagreement – Một chủ đề gây tranh cãi, khó giải quyết.
Ex: Gun control is a hot potato.
18. Till/ Untill the cows come home: for a very long time – (làm gì đó) quá lâu/ trong khoảng thời gian rất dài.
Ex: I could wait for you until the cows come home.
19. “What a bummer!” = “What a disappointment!”
20. Day in, day out (idiom): hết ngày này qua ngày khác, (~every single day)
-Ex: I have to do the same boring jobs day in, day out.
21. Practice makes perfect (idiom): luyện tập hoặc lặp lại một điều gì đó nhiều lần sẽ khiến con người ta trở nên thành thục và khéo léo (~ có công mài sắt có ngày nên kim).
22. Bends the truth: Bóp méo sự thật.
23. Poke one’s nose into other people’s affairs: chõ mũi vào việc của người khác.
24. Make a mountain out of a molehill: Chuyện bé xé ra to.
